Attenuation and speed of ultrasound in lung.
نویسنده
چکیده
An earlier study established that the attenuation of z0 ultrasound in freshly excised dog lung at 1 MHz was unusually high, viz., more than an order of magnitude greater than air and greatly in excess of that exhibited by other soft tissues. • The opportunity to conduct such measurements as a function of frequency has since become available and the following is an initial reporting of this investigation.

The Ability of Ultrasonic Characterization to Extract the Dose Distribution of MAGIC-f Polymer Gel
Background & Aims: Today, different imaging techniques have been studied in the reading of radiationsensitive polymer gels dosage. Due to limitations of imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), ultrasound techniques are proposed for dose-dependent parameter extraction. In this study, using MAGIC-f (methacrylic and ascorbic acid in gelatin initiat...

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of edible gelatin concentration as a polymerization agent on MAGIC-f polymer gel dose-response sensitivity irradiated by 1.25 MeV energy of cobalt-60. To investigate the dose-dependent polymerization, ultrasonic parameters of propagation speed of sound and broadband ultrasound attenuation coefficient were evaluated. To read-out of the radiation-in...
متن کاملAttenuation and speed of ultrasound in lung: dependence upon frequency and inflation.
The dependence of the speed of sound and the attenuation coefficient upon exposure frequency, in the range of 1-5 MHz, and upon level of inflation, in the range of mass density 0.35-0.7 g/cm3, are reported. The speed of sound decreases linearly and the attenuation coefficient increases exponentially, for all levels of inflation studied.
متن کاملTranslational Insights on Lung Transplantation: Learning from Immunology
The introduction of ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) in the practice of lung transplantation has allowed the reconditioning of the marginal grafts and their conversion into transplantable grafts. In addition, EVLP can provide a platform for the application of various preventive measures to decrease the incidence of post-transplant complications. While the Toronto team targets the attenuation of th...
